Our School

Welcome to the English International School-Baghdad (EISB). We are recognized by the Ministry of Education as an international school and licensed by Pearson to deliver the Edexcel curriculum while also operating as an IGCSE and A-Level exam center. We have a diverse community with teaching staff from the UK, Australia, America, Canada, and many other countries.

Mission & Vision

At The English International School Baghdad, we take our responsibility to prepare future leaders and lifelong learners seriously. The acquisition of fundamental values lies at the heart of everything we do, and all areas of the curriculum are a vehicle for underpinning these values. EISB aims to expose every child, every day, to experiences that will help them understand the need for mutual respect, tolerance, and understanding of people from different cultures and faiths. We pride ourselves on our success in this area as we will see our students embrace differences with respect and integrity.

To achieve our mission and vision, the EIS-Baghdad team will:

  • Maintain a school culture of excellence in teaching, student achievement, and innovation.
  • Maintain a supportive, healthy, and secure environment for teaching and learning.
  • Through the Fieldwork Education curriculums, our team delivers a balanced and holistic international education centered on the learner.
  • Raise student awareness and engagement in social, environmental, and inter-cultural activities, both within and outside the academic programs of study.
  • Provide excellent resources to support the programs of study.

Class sizes:

The school reserves the right to organize classes and limit class sizes on a flexible basis to:

  • make effective and efficient use of teaching staff
  • ensure that the demands of children with English as a Second Language (ESL) can be supported appropriately.
  • ensure that students who have learning difficulties can be supported appropriately.
  • facilitate class sizes that are advantageous to the academic and social development of all pupils.

The school aims to maintain average class sizes of twenty pupils. If a particular year group is likely to exceed these numbers, a decision will be taken as to whether to split the year group into smaller classes, or to employ a teaching assistant to support the class teacher.
